I live in the northern area of the country, where the weather is drastic just about all year round. In the summer, the temperature often climbs into the nineties, with extremely high humidity levels. During the winter, every one of us live with sub zero hot plus cold temperatures, vicious wind chill, plus tons of snow. The Spring plus fall are always chilly plus damp, so every one of us usually need to run the gas furnace. With either the heating or cooling system running for most of the year, there’s no opening of opening the windows. To conserve energy, I’ve tightened up the condo as much as possible. I’ve updated windows, added insulation, caulked plus weatherstripped. I’ve worked absolutely difficult to eliminate every crack, hole or leak which might allow our heated or cooled air to escape. This has made a large difference in our weekly energy costs plus greatly improved the comfort of our home, then unfortunately this traps all sorts of contaminants in the house. There’s no influx of fresh air, plus no opening for dust, pollen, dander, or unpleasant odors to escape. There’s problems with indoor air quality, which can lead to health problems. After consulting with a local Heating as well as A/C company, I invested in a heat recovery ventilation system. The ventilator brings fresh, outside air into the condo plus extracts the stale, stuffy air. Plus, it uses the outgoing air to preheat the incoming air in the winter. The ventilator also helps to combat excess humidity while every one of us were in the Summer months. Installing the ventilation system has saved me quite a bit of cash in energy costs, while also improving the health, cleanliness plus overall enjoyment of our home.
