Last month, I turned forty-two years old, and my sweet husband planned a wonderful day full of celebration. My birthday was on a Tuesday this year, so my husband decided to take off of work to celebrate my birthday with me. I didn’t expect him to take the day off of work; I just figured we would celebrate the following Friday evening when he didn’t have to work the next morning. Well, I was wrong, and he definitely surprised me with a wonderful time. He took me out to my favorite restaurant for lunch. The lunch date would have been absolutely perfect if it weren’t for how cold it was in the restaurant. Both my husband and I noticed that it felt a bit chilly when we first walked into the restaurant, but we didn’t think twice about it. We had reservations, so we were placed in a specific seat that just so happened to be right by the air conditioning vent. I asked if we could sit somewhere not so close to the air conditioning, but they assured us that all of the tables were reserved in our area, and they simply couldn’t move us. I didn’t want to ruin our date by arguing with our waitress, so I just went with it. It was the middle of June and ninety degrees outside, but the restaurant was about sixty-five degrees, and my husband and I weren’t dressed to be in such a cold place. We ended up taking our food to go because it was just too cold in the restaurant for me. In the end, I had the most wonderful birthday yet, but I don’t think that we will be returning to that restaurant anytime soon.
