My mother has always been a regular churchgoer. The worst of weather conditions wouldn’t stop her from missing a church service, and we often like to poke fun at her for being so saintly. It’s all in good fun of course, since we admire her dedication to her faith.
Many years have passed since she first started going to this one church, but my mother still never misses church – not one missed service in fifteen years! The only thing that’s been interrupting her will to go is that the building is so hot lately. They do have a central Heating, Ventilation, as well as A/C plan installed, but it’s been there for generations and in dire need of replacement. A few weeks ago, my mother took it upon herself to start a fundraiser for a modern Heating, Ventilation, as well as A/C system for the church. Several members of the congregation were against the idea at first, opting for the installment of much cheaper window AC units instead to save money. The members on my mom’s side said otherwise, arguing that having AC window units put in would deface the beautiful church! Besides, a fantastic Heating, Ventilation, as well as A/C system upgrade would cool the church much more effectively and efficiently than any number of AC window units could.
The cost of installing a modern Heating, Ventilation, as well as A/C plan is not some meager amount, but I agree with my mom’s idea more than any other. window AC units do not exactly improve the look of a building – and on a church, no less? Oh, the shame! The debate rages on still, as the funds to upgrade the outdated Heating, Ventilation, and A/C system aren’t sufficiently raised. Until this can finally be resolved peacefully, my mother continues to bring battery operated fans and numerous bottles of ice water to church on each Sunday.
