Back when I was touring with our music group, every one of us lived out of the van, but not even a big van, a small panel van that was hardly big enough to hold the group of us, let alone our stuff; We had to strap all our equipment to the ceiling, plus alternate who has to kneel on the floor plus the back seat just to work out a schedule of naps. Despite all of that, I remember those times as being amazing! All the discomfort, all the hundreds of days on the road, none of that stands out in our head as much as the nice times. That broken old van didn’t even have a real ac system in it! The cooling idea was as antiquated as the rest of the grizzly vehicle, plus had not been tested or taken care of in over 15 years, but sometimes it would cough out a little cooling from the air vents, but that was always for a moment, plus replaced hastily by excess heating from the motor. The motor always ran hot, plus that meant the heating always felt as if it was running on full tilt. After a while every one of us just used tape alongside cardboard to cover up the air vents to keep the hot air out a little bit, but on blazing nights every one of us would take AC breaks, stopping at gas stations when every one of us didn’t need gas or eating establishments when we weren’t hungry. We would just go inside to bask in their a/c for a few hours, to make a play for cooling ourselves off just a little bit.
